  2. Idochlorhydroxyquinoline (also known as Clioquinol – an antifungal and antibacterial agent)

Description

Uses:

  1. Fungal skin infections

    • Ringworm (Tinea corporis)

    • Athlete’s foot (Tinea pedis)

    • Jock itch (Tinea cruris)

    • Pityriasis versicolor (patchy discoloration)

  2. Seborrheic dermatitis

    • A chronic form of eczema affecting oily areas (scalp, face, chest)

  3. Candidiasis of the skin

    • Yeast infections in moist skin folds

  4. Mixed infections (fungal + mild bacterial)

    • Due to the additional antimicrobial action of clioquinol

  5. Fungal infections resistant to other treatments

    • When plain antifungals haven’t worked well
